Photographer's Note
Spice Bazaars are one of my happy places, for obvious reasons. This one can be found at Paddy's Markets in Haymarket, Sydney. The colours, textures, aromas, tastes and of course the characters are such a wonderful sensory experience. Even though this is downtown Sydney, you feel transported for a moment to somewhere exotic like Morocco, the Middle East or Asia.
PS: The spice you see in the foreground brought a whole new meaning to a Sunday Roast.

Hi Lisa,
This could be straight from the pages of a food magazine! Even though I cant cook to save my life, I would like to give it a go when I see these enticing herbs and spices. Your control on DOF is as always perfect too. So the one at the front is baby spice, I guess the one behind to the right is ginger spice, and the yellow one at the back does look quite posh :) I wonder where sporty and the other one are?
All the best!

Hi Lisa,
Good tight closeup that shows grain of that spice mix well. Colour various are clear on those other blurred spices in the background.
Finland is not well known of spicy food. But next weekend we have Chilifest here in Tampere, including world championship contest of Naga Morich eating.

Ciao Lisa,
buone vacanze,
Valter

Hi Lisa
this is one food item that tosca and i disagree on...she doesn't do well with spices, whereas I LOVE spice. I want my food to be so spicy its leaking out of my pores!
When I cook, i have to be aware not to add too much hot sauce or spices or Tosca gets angry :)
I think i'd be just fine in a place like this Bizaar, its fun photography too.
I could have sworn that i could smell the spices from here :)
PS
so what happened to you camera???
that sucks!

Ciao Lisa, The spice bazaars are also my favorite places. The best are India or Middle East, so I am looking forward to visiting famous Egyptian Bazaar in Istanbul. This one is not so colourful but I am sure that Sunday Roast with it must be very tasty.

Ciao cara Lisa,
aromas mean so much to me, they have the overwhelming power to evoke memories and stories. I love this photo because its straightforward composition, its textures and its colours are so expressive and convey the warmth and richness of the spices very effectively. The textures in the foreground are so sharp and inviting, you've created great depth and filled the frame in a very intriguing way. The lighting is perfect and you've captured superbly all the natural beauty of the scenery:) Congratulations and thank you! I'm very sorry about your camera and hope that it's something that can be fixed!
All the best, have a great Sunday,
Ourania

Hello Lisa
Well apart from the colours this image is evoking olfactory memories and I am getting a strong smell of spice looking at this shot! I could almost be walking past my local curry house and inhaling deeply as I sometimes do!
Nicely composed with a crop that emphasises the FG and great control of DOF though I think the price tag could have been a little sharper.
Great shot - now I'm off eat - curry for breakfast methinks!
Take care
Mike
