Skopje Mountains, a photo from Skopje, West

Photographer's Note

Looking north towards the mountainous border with Kosovo. Taken with a 300 mm Tamron zoom lens in Skopje, using a high fstop. Even so, it was still necessary to sharpen and sharpen edges and add contrast to separate the snowy peak from its hazy bg. I do not know the name of this mountain. But I liked the contrast between the red roofs and blue sky. And the flattened perspective making the mountain appear larger than it really is.

I have added a WORKSHOP showing the city fg as a comparison.

Hello Chris,
A fine view across the rooftops of Skopje with the looming mountain making a superb focal point. Excellent colour contrasts and very good clarity.

You're right , with this perspective , the mountain looks enormous . And the snow enhances this impression . A beautiful composition with the red roofs in the FG .

I like the contrast between the red roofs and the majestic snow-capped mountain peak a lot. The light is pleasant and brings out the colours at their best too.

The use of your telephoto to emphasize the mountain was great, and your post-processing made it very clear. I find the cutoff rooftops to be distracting - it it was possible, you should have included the houses not just their roofs, IMO.

La distance entre les maisons et les montagnes donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir certains détails des montagnes. La bonne luminosité met en valeur les couleurs de l'image.

As always with long extract zoom, a need to sharpen the photo is inevitabile, and managed fairly good.
Wonderful snowy summit rise on the very far north side, and good contrast from red roof-tops in the FG.

On est presque submergé par autant de beauté. On se sent aussi bien petits. J'aime l'avant plan très net ainsi que le léger brouillard sur la montagne enneigée.

Hello Chris,
This is a very unexpected photo from Skopje. The WS with a wider view explains why I didn't notice this mountain on my visit. (Probably there were too many clouds as well.) It's a cleverly handled cut-out of the general view and gives the impression that Skopje is somewhere among the Alps. It is also cleverly post-processed to achieve this effect.

Hi Chris, Interesting both pictures, I always like the view of minarets. Impressive view of the mountain in snow. It looks really large.

I do not know if it is my screen, but there is something wrong with the sharpness. probably because of use of the zoom lens. Nice view anyway.
