Photographer's Note
In baseball slang a frozen rope is when a batter hits a hard line drive. The screaming baseball is supposed to look like a frozen rope. A scene like this most have been the inspiration for this slang because back in the old days the laundry got hung outside and when we had an ice storm mom made one of the boys go out and clear the line

Hello Tom,
This is a fresh capture and I can say only wow from my desk because the time is in Suriname now almost 23:00 and outside temperature is not less then 25°C (77°F). Your note is funny and reminds my childhood for helping mom. Splendidly detailed capture, perfect clarity. Congratulations.
Best Regards,

Hi Tom
belle présentation du froid que l'on connait présentement, les détails de la glace sur la poulie et sur la corde apparaissent bien.

Nope! Don't think I'd want to be hanging clothes on the line today. Minus 31C today....way too cold for me! The detail on this is great and I like the beautiful blue sky. TFS

Hello Tom! Would you believe that I took one of these ropes home back to my Swiss household? My NS friend had one and I loved to "roll-in" her laundry, I had never seen anything like that before. We had it montaged in our cottage but when we had to cut the tree I had no longer a way to put it up but this reminds me of all the things I bring home from my travels :))) You sure show the cold in this one, I guess the wheel is pretty much stuck ... no rolling! Lovely photo, Tom! Have a nice morning, once you are up! Barbara.

Hello Tom,
Wow! What a great pov!
Clear, sharp details on your focal point and a well chosen dof for a softer b/g.
I like how the icicles have created an abstract pattern, are twinkling and how some of them have adopted the blue of the sky.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Tom,
A very good shot with a framing very orginal and very efficac. The details in the FG are very well collected. The BG with the trees gives an interesting and nice prospect effect. Congratulations,

Hello Tom,
Makes for an interesting and fascinating photo study. The ice droplets are beautifully rendered and the dark blue sky adds much to the winter mood. Hope you were wrapped up warm :-)

Hello Tom,
that's a sight we don't have very often... well, it's pretty efficacious to show what's happening out there! (:-
And it's a nice composition though, with all those trees in the background and the intense blue sky. Nearly everything at focus.
Stay warm!

Hi, Tom -
Here in San Francisco we're having extreme cold weather (by our standards, anything below 40 F is c-c-c-c-c-old!), so I wasn't sure I wanted to open this image at first. It's remarkably crisp (well, cold air does that) and very detailed. The pole seems a little close to the right edge and makes the photo seem slightly unbalanced, though.
Best,
Dan
PS: We've been hearing about the NE ice storm. Nice that you got a great shot out of it, but do stay off the roads, hmmm?

Hi, Tom.
It makes you feel like wearing a triple coat and two blankets by only looking at it... LOL!!! But it reminds me a lot of my childhood way back in the '50s in Northern Italy, when wintery scenes like this one were definitely daily stuff. Holland is close to nothing compared to it. COOL moody capture, I need a cognac now... Well, I don't mind if I do! Have a good day y'all, and thanks for your recent visit to Independence Pass, much appreciated. See ya soon,
Fulvio.

OH, Tom that looks SOOO cold. Brrrrrr. I love the icy rope in the FG with the great BG blurring making it stand out so sharply and perfectly. Beautiful crystal clear color and fabulous detail. Cool note, too. I never knew that. Many thanks and warmest regards,
