Photographer's Note

A bird's eye view of Terazije Square in Belgrade and its famous drinking-fountain from 1860.
I took this picture from my room at the classic art nouveau-style Hotel Moskva (Moscow), opened in 1908. This is a beautiful hotel, full of character, and at at price-level far above my usual budget. However, as it was the last night of my journey on the Balkans, I allowed myself a real splurge.
In a workshop is a picture of the hotel. My room was behind the three windows on the top floor on the nearest corner, just below the little cupola. I enjoyed a splendid view of most of central Belgrade from there.

Beautifully captured, making the most of the patterns and colours. Quite liked the composition and the colour tone contrasts between the fountain and stonework.

This is an interesting and well captured bird's eye view. The radial lines of the pavement and also the small tiles give a nice graphical impression. Also the fountain itself looks beautiful. Beautiful light and colours too. TFS!

Not a bad view from your hotel window. A really fine composition where you make very good use of the pattern in the tiling and people walking in different direction. Wonderful lighting and colours. TFS and have a nice weekend!

Nice composition, almost perfect arrangement of the people (you cut off the guy in the lower right). The eye flows through the image well.

A very good view here and an irresistible motive. The inclusion of all people give a good conception of the size of this fountain and they also add some nice colours. What was the room price here?

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to see the world as awe have it from a distance into the sky, and I play the scene over and over in my mind "Its utterly stupid what this creature called 'man' is carrying out on this planet", and then I cannot take any thing seriously when I feel that whatever us humans are busy in does not count in the grandest scheme of things.

This shot reminisces to me. Thanks for sharing

Hello,

I like a lot the top point of view and this photo evidences well why. It allows to exploit the graphism of the pavement and to show differently the thing we are used to see from the ground.
Here the fountain appears like a star.

We don't see too many of these birds eye view photos very often on TE.
This is a great example of why we should see more.
The ground is very detailed, even seeing the black speckles.
the addition of the people provide a sense of size perspective.

Good picture is asking for a photograph and you spotted this well in time, what lovely balanced compo and frameful possibly from the best viewpoint where the eye popping water fountain and the graphical lines glue the focus in. Great observation on your part, excellent low evening light, soft long shadows and a scene highly invigorated by people's presence - being vital element for this type of shot, leaving us to guess the height this was shot! Great capture and tfs

this picture is fun to observe as it has a playful perspective and fine graphic patterns that seem to evoke motion. I like to look at the people and the way they relate to the patterns or the other passers-by you captured in your frame. The monument and the fountain have become more attractive from this point of view. There's a delightful play of scale involving the monument and the people. a lovely upper view. I liked the design of the lines around and the people walking in the area. nice view of the shapes of the fountain. belgrade is one of those towns with not so much images available.

Gert, the room window offers a splendid view of this square in central Belgrade. The fountain in the middle painted in turquoise is really attractive. The patterns on the square floor seen from above create a beautiful visual effect. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.
