Fantasy in white, a photo from Chian Rai, North

Photographer's Note

No question, there are countless Buddhist temples or Wats in Thailand, but there are very few contemporary one which are in the true sense of the words creative and artistic, the best example of such an extraordinary temple complex certainly is Wat Rong Khun, about 20 minutes drive south of Chiang Rai. This symphony in white was designed and build and still is being build - constructions of additional complexes are ongoing - by the well known Thai architect Chalermchai Kositpipat.

Hi Urs,

Wonderfully balanced image between the sheer white and Monk's Saffron colored robes. The flash fill balanced the image very well. I absolutely love this temple.

Wow, I like everything about this one - the strong orange/blue/white color contrast, the temple like a cake with confectionery, and the delicate shadow play over the monks. Great capture!

yes, I've been to Thailand, and I can honestly say that I've never seen a Wat or Temple like this one.
and to be honest, its very refreshing as most wats are pretty much the same in architectural design and color schemes..some are different of course...but THIS is truly a unique one!
and having the red colors in the fg make the white stand out that much more.

You got lovely blue sky here. When we went there last March, the sky was a under thin cloud cover because of the slash burning and light was muted. The white Rong Khun, which in my opinion is a marvel of explosive artistic creativity stands wonderfully against the blue sky. The red robes of the monks also create strong contrast. Lovely work! Wonder why you did not take this picture in landscape format to include the entire Wat in the frame

This is indeed unusual white temple probably the most peculiar place of worship I have ever seen. Very cool and precisely blindingly white with all the intricate details there and so much to see. The eyecatching monks are equally vital there and the deep blue sky creates a superb overall contrast. Excellent work, Congrats.

questo è il genere di fotografia che a me piace in maniera particolare.
Bella composizione, cieli azzurri e contrasto di colori, senza tralasciare la bellezza del soggetto.
Tutto ciò è ben condensato in questa ripresa e la presenza umana aggiunge un ulteriore elemento di bellezza con la macchia di colore che rompe il bel gioco di ombre.
