Photographer's Note

Another Bo-Kaap (Cape Malay Quarter) street view.

The Bo-Kaap is also known as the Cape Malay quarter of old Cape Town or Kaapstad as the first Dutch settlers called this old VOC (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie - Dutch East-Indies Company) settlement and trading post.
The Bo-Kaap became the home of mainly Muslim inhabitants brought in by the Dutch traders from Malaysia and other regions of Southern Asia, the Arabian Sea and East-Africa in the 1600's.

The architecture, faces, smells and colours show the Muslim and eastern heritage of these Capetonians who today make the melting pot of cultures which is Cape Town and South Africa.
A must-see for those who visit this amazing city at the far south tip of Africa.
