Asian Maydan, a photo from Sughd, West

Photographer's Note

At the time when we in Ukraine are experiencing the Euromaydan, I would like to show another Maydan, which is a mounting pass over a spur of the Gissar Range at the upper reaches of the Yaghnob River in Ayni District of Sughd Province in Tajikistan. Its altitude is 2980 m above sea level.

GPS coordinates: 39.155635 Lat, 69.231885 Long, 2980 m

Hello Sergiy,
Nice view of this lush green meadows. They contrast well against the barren jagged peaks and the blue sky. The relaxed bikers add vital life to the scene. One funny thing is that in Bengali also we call these meadows 'maidan' inter mingling of cultures I suppose. Nice shot with good colors, light and clarity. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sergiy,
looking at other photos I already thought that you switched from bike to the horse but I see bikes again :) They are in fact a lovely foreground and they add some extra color to this lovely mountain panorama. Great natural colors, it must have been a fantastic trip.

Not knew till now about maydans, nor easy to visit riding a bike but the best way to enjoy nature and landscape, impresive rocks at the back in great comtrast with the green fields at the front

It is a long time since you posted this photograph but is nice to see being active on the site again, by posting critiques.
I remember you sharing this travelogue.
Although the scenery looks spectacular and your inclusion of the cyclists adds colour and animation, I just cannot imagine cycling over such inhospitable terrain.

The first thing to say that made me happy to see that you've contacted after so long silence, when we were very familiar to comment on our gallery, I remember the wonderful landscapes that have always been in your incredible travel with the group cyclists.
This image is superb, with the soft green hillside in the foreground, and the rugged peaks that we see behind, cyclists on a short break put the vital touch to the picture.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; are all factors perfectly made, in this beautiful image.

Hello Sergiy,

How nice to see you are still taking photos and have returned to Trekearth. I remember well your photos from bicycle road-trips to rugged and largely uninhabited areas of Central Asia. This photo from Tajikistan is first rate, showing a slice-of-daily life scene of the group of cyclists.

Incidentally, my physician in the United States is a young woman from Kharkiv, half-Russian, half-Ukrainian.
