We Are The Others, a photo from Noord-Holland, South

Photographer's Note

The title is a song by my favourite dutch band, Delain. The lyrics were inspired by the hate-crime against a British girl named Sophie Lancaster in 2007. She and her boyfriend were beaten comatose by a gang of youths, because of their goth looks. Sophie died from her injuries. This tragedy sent shock waves throughout the world.

Since March of this year I found out, that streetphotography is a new passion for me.
On Flickr I will post these kind of pictures, it would be nice, if you visit me there.
The "other" photos will be seen on TE.

Dag Hans,

Blij u weer een terug te zien, hoe gaat het nog!
Ik zag laatst ook in Nederland mensen met een ander geaardheid mensen aanvallen, waarom in godsnaam.
Wanneer iedereen ander met rust laat is er geen probleem in de wereld.
Maar de laatste zien we ook in België groepen ontstaan met haat neigingen, het zijn geen mensen met geboorteland België, of toch niet hun ouders.
Als u naar mijn eigen site kijkt naar Brussel zal u ook een foto zien maar ik heb de gezichten onherkenbaar gemaakt.
Goed werk Hans.

Yeah, I do remember that tragedy....
This is a beautiful shot. I like the title, I don't quite know about the song, but the photo does give a kind of feeling of it...

Very sad that some of us can not except other's how and whom they are with out reverting to violence against them.

Good use of the black & white, the scene is really eye-catching because of the people standing behind the couple and watching them with a mix of curiosity and maybe other "bad" feelings, hate or anything else... Unfortunately, it seems so difficult for some people to accept different ways of life !

Hello Hans,
A great street shot in B&W. I like it. You have also captured the curiosity of the people in the background gazing at the couple.
It is a shame that differences don't seem to be better tolerated by some members of society.
