The Rock, a photo from Zanzibar, East

Photographer's Note

After a few days in Matemwe, I left my family and went for two days to Paje to visit the other part of Zanzibar. Paje is a popular place with tourists, as there are there many kite schools.
Restaurant "the Rock" is one of the iconic views in Zanzibar. I wanted to see it, so I went there using dalla dalla. The restaurant is situated on the tiny rock. In low tide one can go there on foot, in high tide it is accessible by a boat. I haven't been inside. I have heard that the food is overpriced there. But I liked the view very much. From there I made a long walk along the beach in direction to Michamvi and returned by dalla dalla , of course.
Strange, but it seems that there are no photos on TE.

The setting reminded me of the famous temple in Bali.

Best place for a refuge from Corona...
Hi Malgo,
Wonderflly placed the island and the hut between the different sea colors. Now when reading the note, reckon a restaurant is not so Corona free-zone, but the sight is awesome.

Hello Malgo,
I can imagine that a restaurant in such a location offers overpriced dishes and maybe not even the best food.
Imagine going there on foot at low tide and when you have finished eating, it is high tide and no boat is present.
Was the food in general good in Zanzibar?

Hello Malgo, looking at the rather flimsy steps I would guess that the sea does not get too rough here.
The tiny island, the Rock, with the building atop is a perfect subject for a photographer.
The colours of the sky and sea are quite subtle and beautiful.

I think your internet connection has been fixed? This is a very nice view, and it reminds me slightly of Tanah Lot. Are you sure the rock is authentic, and not heavily restored like Tanah Lot? I'm not a bit surprised to learn that the food here is overpriced. It looks like it would be a typical tourist trap, even though it looks very pretty from this angle. The colours of the shallow water are very beautiful.

A very nice photo of this tiny island, placed well in the middle of the photo, surrounded by the calm and clear water of the ocean. The house in the middle of the rock stands out well and is nicely surrounded by some trees.

You will have to write your own tourist guide about what is worth visiting!

This is a really beautiful place and shown with an extremely well exposed photograph. The soft colours are delightful and add to the relaxed ambience of the scene.

Such shots reveal the variety of the places you saw!

It's a crazy place to build a restaurant but it looks fantastic. Nice colours in the sky and sea, with great sharpness. The composition works well, with the wide view making the rock appear quite isolated.

Hi Malgo,
That is a special place for sure. No doubt quite famous. It would be fun to eat there, but as a small place it could be fully booked often. Your shot is quite lovely, with open see showing sandy bottom through shallow water.

This looks like an ideal place to get away from it all. Good colour, sharpness and saturation and the boat is an escape route for a quick shopping expedition to replenish supplies. Tfs!

Really spectacular this unique rock in the plain of the beach, and perfectly used the space to build that house, now a restaurant that does not seem to be very big, intimate for couples ......
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
