Photographer's Note
A woman stands tall and proud in front of her home.
34 years ago we travelled by truck for 3days from Maiduguri in Nigeria, through a narrow strip of northern Cameroon to N'djamena in Chad. It was an arduous journey and I particularly remember the atrociously rough road, the mosquitoes, the heat and the lack of food.
Enroute we stopped in a village and this elegant woman posed for perhaps her only photograph.
A scan from a kodachrome slide.

Hello Marlene,
wow! another interesting - and old!- photo. This IS History!
Good scan (I know how difficult it is sometimes to scan in the right way)!
and a good portrait of the lady (too bad, though, that we can't see her eyes).
kind regards!

Hello Marlene,
The colours seem to have faded a bit (not unexpected after 34 years), but it's still a highly interesting and captivating picture. A well balanced composition, full of fine details about life in this village. An important historical document. I am glad that you have also started digging through your treasures of old slides.
Best wishes,
Gert
