Some people love beautiful beaches and resorts, I am delighted to visit local markets.

Dahar is the oldest part of Hurghada and it’s also called Downtown. One could say, that El Dahar is the most Egyptian area in Hurghada. Other areas are built around tourism, so if you want to see and explore real Egypt in Hurghada, go to visit El Dahar. The atmosphere there is one of a kind, which you can’t experience anywhere else in Hurghada. It’s the most authentic part of the city.

I was happy not to see Christmas decorations, all written in Arabic only, also the prices. There were only locals, I was the only tourist. Such places fascinate me.

Hello Malgo,
Those responsible for this market place helped you to better photos by using the tarpaulins to make the light softer and more even. The photos are all very interesting and any of them could have been a main upload. Both WS have nice depth down the aisle between the stalls. WS #1 is nice for having a woman in the foreground, while the main photo benefits from the colourful sweet potatoes (or is it yam?). I guess you know the Arabic numbers, so you can see that something costs 500, something else 250.

A good daily life scene at the Hurgada markets. My driver took me to a central shopping mall where I had a snack and a cold drink at MacDonald's. Good colour and sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
Travelling in other cultures, markets are fantastic places for someone who enjoys photography.
However, someone who places western demands on hygiene can sometimes have difficulty buying food or eating there.
Your main photo has the best composition. But the other photos also make you want to stroll around this marketplace.
So far, I never heard of El Dahar. But I fear that many foreign visitors to Hurghada may have missed this part of town.

Very interesting market view showing food for sale. There's so many details on those canvases offering shadow. Still there's a lot of light there. That merchant is perfectly placed and you have a good timing as he gives a look to the left.

Ciao Malgo,one of the few corners of Hurghada where you can taste a bit of local life, and then the markets are always the most significant face of the countries we visit, I remember it well, the taxi had obviously left us in front of a tourist shop of his friend but we left and visited the market. Markets are often a good way to avoid tourists crowds. These are a good market series. I notice in the WS that you were there during the pomegranate season, a favourite of mine.

a banca com um monte de batata-doce impressiona, se parece com a que eu vendo na minha loja. hahaha.
boas vistas do mercado local, sempre há coisas estranhas para descobrir nesses locais e personagens interessantes também. no marrocos eu fiquei chateado pois os locais odeiam fotos e de certa forma as pessoas são o que há de mais interessante por lá, junto à arquitetura.
