Great mbasil 2009-01-24 19:41

Interesting perspetive, Austin. The twilight exposure gives it a bit of a wierd, other-worldy color (which is OK). It is a bit noisy, you might consider running it through a noise filter (I downloaded one a couple years ago) or locking your ISO at 100, and lengthening the exposure. But it's a nice shot.

Default To mbasil: Noise

Hi Mike

Thanks for the feedback, and I see you have posted another Dog on the Tucker Box which has much better lighting. (I've got an Instamatic pic of it taken in the 70's somewhere)

I haven't got to the noise reduction chapter in my book yet (and don't have any plug-ins). I tried using CS3's noise reduction filter at default settings but it seemed to introduce some banding.

Which NR plug-in do you have? The photo was shot at ISO200, seemed like a good idea at the time. Perhaps I should have used ISO100.

Cheers

Austin

Hmm, it's a bit noisier than I would have expected for 200. It's not a big deal, but I've found it's so easy to clean it up. I downloaded "Noiseware" from the web. You should be able to try a free download. (http://www.imagenomic.com/) Someone suggested it here, and it blew me away the first time I tried it.

Thanks

Someone else recommended this one to me but in the meantime I've downloaded HeliconFilter as freeware - which I have not installed yet.

Regards

Dean
