Hi Adrienne, sometimes it shames me to be part of the nation historically most guilty of the atrocities of slavery. However, here we are 200 years after slavery was abolished in Great Britain and yet it lives on elsewhere in the world. Worse still, I presume these kids are sold into slavery by their own people? A very powerful photo. Excellent. Paul.

Default To rushfan2112: child slavery

Your comment was touching.
Yes, most of the kids are sold into slavery by the family. Some in the villages are tricked by strangers who claim they have a job or school for the children and will send back money, then the kids are never seen again. Othertimes, harsh ecomomics can cause a family to sell one child so they can feed the others. There are even TV ad commercials in Togo and Ghana now stating that it is illegeal to sell one's child and showing pictures on kids working in mines. Many street kids one finds in the main city are run away slaves.
