Good greg 2006-02-09 17:24

I like this one. Even though it's misty, I think I'd prefer a little more true black in the image - I'd shift the dark end of the histogram up a bit.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. If you want to take it further, you might feel there's less detail now in the dark area on his back, so you could experiment with curves if you're using PS, or the dodge/burn tools. There's a lot you can do in processing b/w images. By the way, if you're doing anything more than a single step modification (like a levels adjustment), I recommend converting first to 16-bit. Do everything you want there, including sharpening, and convert back to 8 as the final step. You can keep a better range of tones that way.
