Great holmertz 2022-02-11 1:56

Hello Paul,
I have two photos of this theatre, taken on a dull day when there was nothing going on. One of them shows exactly the same angle as your blue hour photo. But there is one great difference. That steel construction above the stage, looking like a bridge, did not exist in 2009. Your photos make the the theatre and its surroundings look much better than in mine.
Best regards,
Gert

Default To holmertz: Steel construction

Thank you Gert,

The steel construction above the stage provides an unobstructed view of the spectacle for the spectators but of course it spoils the view for those who want to take a picture of the theatre and its surroundings.

I did not have good weather in Ohrid every day.
During my visit of Sveti Naum it even started to rain.
The influence of the weather in nearby Albania?
Above Albania the sky seemed always darker to me. Maybe a coincidence.

Kind regards,
Paul

Default coincidence

Hello Paul,
I was on the Albanian side of Lake Ohrid twice. It was mainly cloudy in September, mainly sunny in early June. So the clouds you saw were probably coincidental, as expected.
Regards,
Gert

Thank you for the information, Gert,

Years ago I spoke a traveller who had been in Albania in June and he had much rain.
I remember his advice was to travel later in the season, meaning July or August.

But during so many years when I worked my yearly vacation was always partly in busy July and partly in busy August.
In those years I dreamed of never travelling anymore during those two months after my retirement

Only in my last years of work did the system become a bit easier for us and I was able to take a number of vacation days together with recuperation for overtime in another period.
That's why I could go to Nicaragua, Vietnam and South India in a different time of the year.

So you gave me good news that June was sunny in Albania.
It does not seem to me a country to visit too early in the spring or too late in the autumn.

Kind regards,
Paul

hello Gert and Paul,

I was in Ohrid the same year as Paul, but late in September, and the weather was all the time fine. Also later, in Northern Macedonia and Serbia.
I have many photos of this theatre. Steel construction was of course there.

In Albania (Sarande, Berat, Gjirocaster) I was one year earlier, also at the end of September, and it was a bit cloudy, but no rain and also some sun.

Best regards MAlgo

Hello Malgo and Gert,

In North Macedonia I did have some rain, but in general the weather was very nice and I certainly can't complain.

After Macedonia, I went to Serbia for another week.
That was at the end of July and the beginning of August and in Serbia it rained every day. Not all day, but still too much.
Also too much for the Serbs who told me it was their worst summer in many years.

A very long time ago I was in July in the former Yugoslavia and then it rained there every day.
Maybe only one hour, but then an hour that you definitely had to shelter. Not the soft rain that we sometimes have in Belgium.

I think things can always go wrong in the Balkans when it comes to the weather.
Just have a little luck.

Since I live in a country where according to the inhabitants it rains too often, we all here look forward to sunny destinations

Kind regards,
Paul
