Hi Jorge,
Luckily I didn't experience any violence in the UK but I heard same story from my neighbour. Some people are breaking into his shed in the garden few times, he knows them but police cannot do anything. In fact if you use some sort of protection and something happens to the thief on your property they can sue you instead.
Luckily the crime level is quite low. I hope Brexit will not make it worse.

I crossed UK from a side to other, but I only felt a sense of violence and danger in the air when I visited your town.
