Hello Mariusz,
It's fantastic that certain areas in Europe have a preference to provide as many window sills as possible with flower boxes.
It makes a street / district / city so much more charming.
Here you created a good colour contrast between the flowers / bricks and the sky.
The German 'ü' is easy for certain people. It's pronounced exactly the same as the Dutch and the French 'u'.
I don't understand your comparison with 'y'. In which language is 'y' pronounced as 'ü'? Perhaps in Scandinavian laguages...
Best regards, Paul

Hi Paul,
Yes, I have heard that French speakers are very particular about pronunciation. If you pronounce "e" with wrong accent it is a crime. In fact in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) [y] represents the sound of the French ⟨u⟩ (as in tu). And the reason is that it is intuitively the closest sound. If you use "y" as pronounced in English myth you would be just subtly different from ü. Whether it is identical, the linguists would argue. Kind regards, Mariusz |
