I'm seeking a 24-105L for my girlfriend and a 24-70 for myself... so depending in the price i can be interested in the lens.
If you want you can write to me [email protected] Thanks |

The 35L is one ond of these wondrous lenses whose CENTER at 1.4 is so 3Dlike that you would tend to forgive any dreaminess on the sides - n fact the dreaminess only emphasizes that quality... My two complaints would be: 1) size (it's too bloody big for a 35mm and 2) cost, althugh you are guaranteed to seel it for whatever yu bought it for, it is THAT popular. I think to expect too much sharpness in the corners at f1.4 isn't reasonable personally. Great, I reeat great ortrait lens in my view.

Amen! The 17-40 used to be immensely popular for crop cameras esepcially. Then the expensive, dust aspirating 17-55 f2.8 IS came along and everyone on the threads started dumping on the 17-40 which is super fast handling, dead sharp and a joy to use. If one can live with the narrow range, that lens s a BEAST!

"althugh you are guaranteed to seel it for whatever yu bought it for, it is THAT popular."
There are two second hand 35/1.4 lenses waiting for their owners at "Le Moyen Format", next to "La Maison du Leica". I've seen them gathering dust on the shelves in a one month interval, maybe they're still sitting there in the dark and the cold. It seems the lens is too expensive even second hand to be really popular in France. (Weird thing happening right now : I cannot post any critique nor comment, is that also happening to you Francis? Might be a TE bug, if not I'm going to investigate personally...) |

It's happening to me too brother. I was getting paranoid. No, wait a minute, I AM PARANOID!!!
The 35L is a mystery marketing-wise - a couple of years back it was in short supply and hence a huge demand around the world, especially among cognoscenti (part-time Leica M fiends who also shot the lovely Eos digitals ;o) Now it seems lke the stock is up and zooms like the 25-105 have sort of hurt top end prime sales. But it IS a lovel lens - at night, man, it can suck a passing subject right outta thin air... Aaaaah... |
