Hi Philippe,
Good photo and informative note to introduce the variety types of sign boards at recent days and in medieval age, good comparasion with neighbour country too. I like this quite street view, thanks for sharing.
In this image I show you how the sign board and old shop look like in China at the Song Dynasty around the year of 1100, this is just a selected part of drawing from the entire long version old painting. More explaination about the paint in Wiki English version, but the paint in complete version is showing in Wiki French Version.
