Thanks Don. Pepe Bonet is someone we mentionned already in this forum, I am less familiar with the others, which is good reason to explore this new site.

Hi Narayan - thanks for the heads up - a worthwhile new entry into the Press agency field. Some outstanding stuff there including this Pep Bonet chap for a start. Now I was intrigued to find Philip Blenkinsop there - Australian born shooter based in Bangkok - I've followed his work from the Digital Journalist site (the Hidden War in Laos, etc.) He was recently wounded by shrapnel from a bomb in Thailand's reckless South. Brave guy no doubt, but you know what? I don't rate his compositional skills that high, and I'd like to know your view on this - is it just me? Am I a snob? Reason I say this is when you look at Bonne for example, it's "WOW!" but Blenkinsop's stuff (mostly film and Leics driven I think..) just doesn't impress for the most part, in spite of his obvious bravery and the import of the things he covers. Know what I mean?

Is it me or this guy has already been a member of all the photo agencies that count?
I think Blenkinsop photo relies too much on the sensational/horror thing : remember those indonesian heads chopped in Borneo 99? He's like the Wee Gee of modern journalism, always there first where blood or tears shed, with a straightforward and contrasty angle to the topic.

Zizola is a photographer I like too, his BW photo remind me a bit of Salgado from the composition, but darker, his color photo reminds me of Webb fro th euse of shadows but also... darker (his "Shadows" project is one of the highlights of this site -no pun-).

I hadn't heard about Bonet, I've looked at his photos and can't say I'm enamored. Very stylish, lots of tricks sometimes purposeless... In the end I'm not sure it makes a full photo report, that guy should be a fashion photographer.

exactly - you have nailed it about Blenkinsop - his so-called stronger pics are close to a certain kind of porn, ya know? I vividly remember the Indonesian atrocity pics and some tense looking tail pics in Laos (the Hmong war...) My desperation with this guy is quite simple (and I KNOW I sound like Ninal here ;o))) COMPOSITION! WHat composition?

Your point about Bonet is interesting - you've taken the thought further than I did - yes, I can see him in fashion, and very tasty yoo...

i like jodi Bieber and van Louhuisen a lot there, both are great photographers..
