Museums in India have numerous examples of the art work in terra cotta created by Indian artists through the ages. For example, the museum of CAST in Calcutta- located in Behala - display an excellent collection of terra cotta articles and statuettes- many from the excavated site of Chandraketugarh.
We find terra cotta designs in Muslim architecture in Baharampur - famous Adina mosque included - please view the few photos I have posted in

The most artistic work in terra cotta in undivided Bengal - now West Bengal, Bangladesh - was executed between 17th and 19th centuries in form of wall reliefs or panels in temples. Constructing tone temples in Bengal would have been costly. Terra cotta work , therefore, flourished and we find excellent art work in terra cotta in the districts of West Bengal and Bangladesh .
