Hello Beverley, looking at the thumbnail my initial thought was that the pieces of crockery looked liked a woodpecker or other tree creeping bird, it is a very imaginative piece, I love it.
We’re the broken pieces actually piercing the trunk of the tree?
Thank you for the workshop pictures that show the trees in context.
A unique piece of art.

I don't think the pottery was causing damage. It was so cleverly placed that it appeared to be growing from the tree in lovely curves.
