Here is further support for your idea, Narayan, from a pro writing in the Fred Miranda forum:
"The 35L is great, but I love the 24L even more. Not for optical quality, there the 35 wins, but for flexibility and angle of view (on FF)."
FLEXIBILITY and ANGLE OF VIEW, there, it says it all, man - that 24L is a versatile beast, you better believe it. Coupled with the 5D sensor, OUCH!!!

Hi,

quite an amount for sale...

What do you think (otheres wellcome to discuss too) about having a kind of TE fleamarket at one of the next meetings in central Europe! Might be a good occasion to have a look on items who attracted your eyes and even for the buyer to have a test...

Figures Sohrab, I was thinking the same thing through this whole thread... Although, I like match-stick metering as opposed to the - 0 + led system.

Evren,
I don't believe that primes are for hobbiests at all. A zoom or prime doesn't make someone professional or not. But I want to challenge myself, stretch my limits are my comfort zone. I think primes can do this. they will force me to see differently.

Narayan,
You say you want to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone - why not get yourself a set of manual focus Nikkor lenses? The 24mm f/2, a 35mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.2 are all fast glass and top-notch optics - the manual focus would certainly force you into a different approach and restricting yourself to two or three primes certainly makes you see differently. It would also save you a few thousand dollars at the same time! Just a suggestion.

Cheers,
Ben

i cannot say 50mm f/1.2 is a top-notch lens Ben. I have it for years and its softness is notorious up at wide open apertures..

when i defended zooms for Narayan i meant that primes would be limiting and time consuming approach for photojournalism in a demanding world, thats it..

cheers.
