No, monks are not praying all the time.
And even much less begging.

In several countries I've seen Buddhist monks and I can say that these monks are in the first place ordinary people like others in the world.
They like to talk to people, they like camaraderie among each other and especially the younger do like all those things young people like everywhere.
For example, they also like to be busy with their cell phone (if they have one).
While visiting temples or ruins you can also meet monks taking pictures and showing the same intrest as other visitors.
They are often just human like all of us.

That does not alter the fact that they also lead a monastic life of course.
