Default To Waylim: Yucca Sunset

Happy New Year Wayne -

Yes, it is a bit remote but is a wonderful place to stop if you are going somewhere else. I would plan to be there for sunrise or sunset and scrap the middle of the day - contrast is just so strong. Joanne and I made it a minor destination after 4-days at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in January 2008. There are things to do on a big loop out of Albuquerque or out of Carlsbad, New Mexico. We ran across Indian petroglyph's north Alamogordo and a National Monument centered around three ancient pueblos outside of Mountainaire, NM. We also stumbled upon and old town that was turning into a ghost town on a back road heading toward Moountainaire. I would get some local maps and maps from the AAA and study them. Outside of the Bosque and White Sands everything was by chance from out map sources. If you go to Page 3 of my portfolio here at TE you will see 6 images from that trip including the Yucca Sunset.

I am still catching up on critiques and when that is completed I will look for something from my weekend in Las Vegas just before Christmas. I did a photo WS on that Sunday but I spent Saturday morning at the Valley of Fire and on the way over on Friday I spent the afternoon at the Mojave National Preserve near Baker, CA.

Later

John
