hello! I have Sony Alpha A230 and i thinking about 70-300mm lens. And i wanted to ask, what`s the difference betweed Tamron, Sigma and Sony. Sony costs about 170 quid but Tamron and Sigma about 130 quid. so, is it better to buy Original Sony lens, or there is no diference.
Thanks |

I haven't seen any comparative tests so can't comment on the specifics. I think it is fair to say that you generally pay a premium for manufacturers own lenses as opposed to 3rd party such as Tamron & Sigma.

One do pay more for OEM lenses. I have been using a Sigma 70-300mm lens on my Nikon for more than a year. It has autofocus but has no stablisation. You can also buy a Sigma 70-300mm Sigma lens which has more features and cost more of course.
I also have not seen a comparitive test of these lenses using the same camera body. However I think that there is nothing wrong with either a lens from Tamron or Sigma they are excellent products in their own right. Regards, Barry |
