I like the composition looking over the rooftops of the poor houses. Interesting little trio of local people too with the lady in traditional dress apparently being aided by her companion. It's a shame about the over-exposed foreground, but I understand you posting this photo to make your political point. ( I always thought Fujimori was deposed because of fraudulent activity - but then world politics is not my forte.)

Hello Kath
Yes you are right, there are a lot of allegations against Fujimori. What has been proven is that his right hand man, spymaster Montesinos weaved a system of corruption that touched every sphere of society. It is unclear whether Fujimori nknew about this (or even if he did know if he was not helpless to fight against Montesinos as he controlled the army). Of course this is not a pretty story, however, Fujimori's government did not embark on a demagogic marathin, he was more a man of action than a man of word. He built schools, roads and services that helped improve the lives of people such as the ones in the picture. That is why when I was travelling in deepest Peru, most people wanted him back inspite of the ugliness around him. Yes he is being presecuted by the traditional political class, because they dont like him. But looking at the charges: Responsability over murders comited by the armed forces during the anti-terrorist campaingn, during former president Alan Garcia who is running again many more humans rights abuses were comited by the armed forces, but no one is persecuting him, also corruption during ALan Garcias government, there were many charges of corruption against him and suddenly we have all forgoten. Of course not an easy situation, but I guess people are fedup with too much words and not much action, and sadly it is now in this direction that they are going with Humala Cheers, |
