Carie,

Good shot, looks great in the thumbnail, but the quality lets it down a bit in the full image. This is because the file size is only
44011 bytes. You can post up to 200,000 bytes (and 800 x 800 size) in TE. Also, the buildings look a little unsharp. You can sharpen photos using Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or similar application. Do you have any of these?

Do you still have the original photo?

Nice point of view though, and the monochrome gives a sense of age.

hope this helps....

Hi Tim. Thanks so much for your critique on my photo. You said I can post up to 800 x 800. Is it better to post that big? I have been trying to make the picture the size of the viewing frame. Will it make my photos more sharp if I do? Also, I have been trying to sharpen my photos. They seem to either look too unreal or too soft. I seem unable to just eyeball the results and get what I want. Do you have any tips?
Thanks so much.
Carie

Hi Carie,

Sorry I did not reply sooner, I have been on vacation.

Using larger image size (say 800 x 800 or 800 x 600) will not make the image sharper as such. However, it will make the image look better usually, since there are more "pixels" used. Small images, such as 500 x 400, tend to look more grainy.

What application do you use to sharpen images? Which sharpening option, and what settings do you have when you sharpen?

I use the Photoshop "unsharp mask" option. Usually the amount of unshark mask (USM) that I use is between 50% and 200%. Too much USM make the picture look "noisy" or speckled.

Hope this helps in some way....
