Default To bgladman: Walking the Inca Trail

As always we're trying to do too much when we travel. We were in Peru for 10 days. Our travel plans had to include a visit to friends in Lima, and nearby sights. Then in the Cuzco area there's soooo much to see that merits one's attention that we ran out of time for the hike. I would love to do the hike eventhough I don't really like 'guided' tours at all. The ideal travel party size is one or two (my wife:)
We took the 6:45 1st bus up to the ruins at which time there might already been 8 hikers at the most. The rest started pouring in fast. By the time we left it looked like a Morrocan Bazaar... Preparation is the key for the enjoyment of Macchu Picchu.
