Great windosil 2009-05-03 3:23

Trust you to make a wonderful picture from the simplest ingredients, Maggie! Every element has been carefully considereed; the sunlit curtain caught in the mirror, the light slanting down in the hall to the lines in the rug and the floorboards leading to the bright tablecloth ...
I am intrigued by the way the door edges appear to bulge outwards - just perspective, I think, not barrel distortion - anyway it gives a good feeling to the whole.
And I am impressed by the perfection of the furnishings in this holiday home.
As one says on TE, thanks for sharing.

Default To windosil: cool and calm

Hello, and thank you Winifred. A Greek Vermeer ( an unlikely animal! ) might have wished to paint this interior. I felt very comfortable in this airy, yet homely place. The bulge on the doors is quite noticeable, although all other verticals are OK. I think perspective (and probably something as mundane as warping of the wood ) is the cause. Double doors are so pleasing.
Thanks again....Maggie
PS The photo 'Rustic Retreat' has won 2nd prize in the 'People in the Garden ' category. I am thrilled to bits - and Tony is too !
