To Nelu_Goia: Image details

Hi Nelu,
I'm actually pleased that you cannot really tell whether this is a raw or out of camera jpeg - I do endeavor to present images as close to real as possible! This in fact is an out of...

To Dyerco: Level...

Hi Phil,
It truly was an act of balance - the bridge, being the dominant element, was actually lower towards the right but looked really odd visually and far more out of balance that way than...

Smile To PixelTerror: Landscape shots...

Hi Jean,
I appreciate your comments and your point is well taken. I reality, I know my best work is in landscape photography, but every now and then I like to throw in a bit of variety, hence a shot...

To PJE: Evening light...

This shot was all about the last late day warm sun rays. This is the first time I've seen it like this down at Cheam as well - one of those lucky moments for sure. Thanks for stopping by. Gerald

To westcoastgirl1: Raining

In fact it was raining, quite hard actually. You can see a few little rain ripples below the second rail nearer to the left side of the image. Rainy conditions are actually good times to photography...

To PJE: Location

You are so correct - on the left just before you reach the "T" junction where you turn left towards Chilliwack. Hey, how you been - haven't seen much of you in these parts lately. Gerald

To westcoastgirl1: Image Balance

I don't spend as much time as some would by using tripod for everythng etc. etc., but I have learned to "see" details and features with a perceptive and creative eye. Shots like this one are not...

Re: To danielswalsh: cranberry farms

Agassiz is in the eastern part of the Fraser Valley, only about 18 miles west of Hope. Chilliwack is sort of central, and Abbotsford/Langley would be on the western side of the Fraser Valley. Hope...

To danielswalsh: cranberry farms

As I say in my note, this farm is in Agassiz countryside, but this summer someone has been building new cranberry production facilities just north of the Trans Canada Highway east of Chilliwack -...

To TravelerNL: Floating

The cranberries in this picture are in fact floating on about 24" of water and yes, there is at least one cranberry field beyond the one we see in the foreground. Thanks for your comments and for...

To Dyerco: Colors

This post is from 2008 as you may have noticed. You may well be right about this fall, Phil. I hiked around Hicks Lake on Sunday afternoon and observed hardly a hint of autumn color - seemed leaves...

To feather: Dust...

There's no way I would carry my camera on the tractor in those conditions, but fortunately the orchard we were working in was only about 10 minutes from my home, so was able to call my wife to bring...

To PJE: Shutter Speed

Hi paul,
I did exactly as you say, was able to get the shutter speed down to 1/5 of a second by using the polarizer filter. I actually quite like the effect even though it did not create the extent...

To feather: Challenges

Hi Kath,
You are correct, I had very harsh light to deal with, and because time was not on my side to wait long or return, I simply made the best of it. I took several shots from a bit further out...

I really didn't mean for there not to be workshops, so have just edited my profile - so please, do the workshop you intended. Look forward to seeing it. Gerald

To pablominto: Converted to...

I fear it may be left to the elements and will disappear over time as the major new World Class resort is across the road, thriving, and seemingly with little interet in the history of the area. Too...

To westozman: Church

Actually, the "World Class Resort" as it is referred to, already exists sort of across from this little church - seemed as though the church was a "cast-off" in the scheme of things - very sad to me...

To feather: Dangerous...

To feather: Punch...

Interesting observation, Kath. Post processing principles and procedures have not changed. I took about 500 images on our Alaska Cruise and quite frankly I was not excited about many of them. ...
