As you wrote, this magnificient photo didn't require any editing due to the beauty of the colours provided by nature itself. Stunning contrasts and textures with slivers of blue shining through. Well done.

Nice work, you rarely see the palace from this Western angle, it is normally from Gellert hill or the Pest bank, well done on going to uncharted territory!

However, I don't understand why you decided to go for the black and white, I don't think it adds anything to the picture, indeed I think it takes away.

Check out my picture of the palace and church from the Pest bank at night, and tell me what you think!

    Hey Paulina,

I really liked this photo - interestingly, I took a similar one in another Scandinavian Country last Summer. I did a workshop on this photo to improve the colours and sharpness and make it more appealing. Please tell me what you think. http://www.trekearth.com/workshops/1164913/photo171703.htm

    Very nicely taken though.

This is a very surreal photo, I can't work out exactly what is going on. Don't get me wrong, it is very nice. What does it show and how did you compose it please?

    Thanks, M

What wonderful scenery! You have managed to get a very old feel on this photo with whatever camera you are using. I like that you haven't really produced it to much, you have let the scenery speak for itself. The greens and the blues are just wonderful. And the trees are beautiful. Well done on finding such an interesting POV.

    Hey Goli,

You critiqued a photo of mine, so I thought I would return the favour.

I see you like to take minimalist photos of interesting patterns and textures. This is probably one of your better ones. I like how even all these rocks are hagged and different shapes, they are all holding each other up. I would like to think of this as a symbol for human beings - we are all different - different shapes, different colours, but we should be able to hold each other up and support each other in the same way that these rocks are... what do you think?!

    Nice work, keep it up!

I like this photo for all of the things you mention in your note. The vivid colours of the native people and horses. The mist mystically sinking around the base of the volcano. The moon-crater-like volcano. Well captured.

Really nice capture. I wish I had taken a shot like this while I was there! Although I did get a stunning night shot from the top of Victoria Peak. I'll probably upload it tomorrow you should check it out.

I would probably crop the left side of this photo out. It is just blackness after all, and it doesn't really add much to the photo. But only a small sliver of it, beacuse I do like how the picture gradually takes form from left to right. Well done, keep up the good work.

I like how the movement of the sea is frozen in time by this photo, and the sea creates some very strange shapes in the close right of the picture. I do not think the photo is oversaturated, in fat I really like all the colouts. The two people on the beach really make the photo. They look so small and insignificant compared to the great power of the sea. That man in white staring out is an interesting point. I wonder, what could he be thinking of as he looks out at that beautiful sea?!

Well done on finding such a great POV.

Je vais ecrire en anglais pour me mieux exprimer.

What I like about this photo is the contrast between the crowds on the ground and the freedom of the balloons in the sky. I don't generally like to put a metaphor to a photograph, however I think this one merits it. Looking at this photo, I feel as though all the crowded humans on the ground are looking up at those free balloons and thinking to themselves "wow, I wish I was up there and free"!

I don't know whether you meant to capture that feeling or not, but that is what I see. On another note, very well composed, perhaps you could add a bit of a light, especially on the bottom, and perhaps a bit more saturation of colours. Good work.

    Hi Sywelster,

The pale orange sun sinking over those hills is superbly captured, and the colours mirrored in the sky and the sea.

    Very nicely captured.

    Hi Yuri,

Would you mind telling me when you took this photo please? I have a funny feeling that the tall piper in the middle may either be me or my brother! Was it a very cold day, and is there a large boat at the pier?

You see, I am from Thurso and I played in the Junior Pipe Band, and I think I remember this!

    Many thanks,
    Michael

Wow. Stunning sky, with beautifully defined clouds and wonderful colours. The thing that really strikes me about this photo is that the colour of the sky is cast over the whole of the photo. I wonder whether this is natural, or it was edited a bit? Either way, it is a beautiful effect. The men with their boat breaks up the horizontal lines of the sea and sky nicely, and is an interesting point.

Furthermore, your note is excellent and encompasses the idea of Trekearth - that is to teach people about the world through photography. This photo has definitely inspired me to go to Indonesia.

    Great work.

The movement of the running/walking boy is an interesting contrast to the stillness of this mosque. I think your lens may have distorted the top right hand corner - and I find it slightly distracting, it could probably be touched up pretty easily in photoshop. But nice work, keep it up.

I love how in this photo even though you can't see the sunset, you get this implicit feeling for the sun setting. The rocks seem to be basking in this last bit of sunlight, and their red colour contrasts well with the blue of the sky. Perhaps if you could bring out the foreground slightly more, but then again maybe not - it seems to accentuate the fiery red of the stones. Very nice photo. Welcome to TrekEarth and keep up the good work!

You have captured the contrast between that beautiful deep blue and the shallower waters very well. The piece of land adds a necessary contrast to the water. It would have been nice to see something breaking up the horizontal lines across the picture, however as the title says you have captured these colours magically!

Oh, and welcome to TrekEarth, keep up the good work!
