Photographer's Note

This kind of "tunnels" it's very common at the greek islands. The uses is double: to confused the pirates at the past and for bulding space.

At the past, our islands sufered from pirates. The people builded these "tunnels" and made their roads into narrow path to confused them.

On the other hand, the space for bulding was not so much, especially at the Chora of every island. So, they builded their houses close to each other to make a kind of economy! These arches was necessary for this.

At our era, these "tunnels" and the narrow paths are very graphic for the tourists and the new comers.
