Arnaldo Pomodoro is an Italian sculptor. He was born on June 23, 1926, in Morciano, Romagna, Italy. He currently lives and works in Milan. His brother, Giò Pomodoro (1930-1993) was also a sculptor.
Pomodoro designed a controversial fiberglass crucifix for the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The piece is topped with a fourteen foot in diameter crown of thorns which hovers over the figure of Christ.
Some of Pomodoro's "Sphere Within Sphere" (Sfera con Sfera) can be seen in the Vatican Museums, Trinity College, Dublin, the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the University of California, Berkeley.
In 1999 he founded Fondazione Pomodoro in Milan. Originally conceived as a centre to document and archive the work of the artist, it opened an exhibition space in 2005, hosting exhibitions of prominent artists such as Jannis Kounellis. The director of Fondazione Pomodoro is Flaminio Gualdoni.

Hello Gio,

I have always enjoyed the work of Pomodoro, without knowing much about it. I saw his work for the first time at Trinity University in Dublin, then at the Vatican museum, and the Hirshorn. I like the photograph very much, and I am especially happy to connect a name to the imaginative sculptor.

This ongoing theme is a clever idea and very inspiring.

You have chosen a good subject for this night shot, for the reflections it provides, both on water and sculpture. The warm golden tones, the star effect around lampposts and turquoise colour blend perfectly together.

Very nice picture with great exposure and very nice colors.
Maybe it´s a little bit askew, but nothing to worry about. The shadow of the picture (in the frame) wouldn´t have been necessary but that´s matter of taste anyway.

perfect shot. I love the exposure and light, and the low POV. Very good quality. When I saw the small version I thought it was the UN in NYC. I missed this structure when I've been in Roma

Hello Giorgio.
A great photo of this excellent art of work. I am a little curious about however it's the same sphere that I saw in the Vaticans or if it's another one. It can't be easy to move them because of their size. There's another work of this artist in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Excellent exposure in this photo gives a perfect result.
