Photographer’s Note
This is an older photo from a trip to Montreal in 2002. The photo was taken inside the Notre Dame Basilica in the old city of Montreal. Not having a tripod I balanced the camera on the end of one of the pews to try to stabilize the image.
Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal (English: Notre-Dame Basilica) is a basilica in the historic district of Montreal, in Quebec, Canada. Specifically, it is located at 116, Notre Dame Street West, facing Place d'Armes, at the corner of Saint Sulpice Street in Old Montreal (Place-d'Armes metro station).
The church's architecture is among the most dramatic in the world; its interior is grand and colourful, its ceiling is coloured deep blue and decorated with golden stars, and the rest of the sanctuary is a polychrome of blues, azures, reds, purples, silver, and gold. It is filled with hundreds of intricate wooden carvings and several religious statues. Unusual for a church, the stained glass windows along the walls of the sanctuary do not depict biblical scenes, but rather scenes from the religious history of Montreal. It also has a Canadian-built Casavant Frères pipe organ, which comprises four keyboards, 97 stops, almost 7000 individual pipes and a pedal board. (Wikipedia.
I will show a photo of the pipe organ in WS.

The light and colours are wonderful. The lack of a proper tripod may have reduced the quality a bit, but it is a very good shot.

Hi Asa,
What a beautuful picture we have here!...too bad the file size is so small(79KB).Interesting enough, this thing doesn`t seem to have a big impact on your photo, mayby because is so well done.
The detail is like always in your photos: perfect. The colors are unbelievely beautiful.

hello Asa
the light and the colors are superb.I specially like the blue and purple above the golden tones.Maybe the sharpness could be better down the photo, but on the top it is nice, but I know it's difficult without tripod. You have chosen a nice POV to do a good photo.
Have a nice day.

Bonjour Asa,
réalisation très colorée et rendue symétrique ce qui est une bonne idée ici.
Quelques fantômes dûs au temps de pose de 1 seconde, sinon, les lumières sont très bien dosées.
Best regards.

Hi Asa!
A great interior presentation. I understand the difficulty of getting such a picture with a 2002 technology camera, but you've done it very well. Did you use a tripod for getting this 1 s exposure so sharp?
Congratulations!

Hello Asa,
Why so small picture Asa, 640x480 for this wonderful interior picture.
The different colours around the altar are extraordinarily, very pleasant for looking.
I like interior shots, out of castles or church or other lovely buildings
I wish you a nice weekend,

well I like it, the pov is nice and the light is good. Just what extra photojob like with a frame and it was perfect, good job anyway.

Hello Asa,
I have seen many amazing photos of this fabulous basilica and your photo is one of them. This may possibly be the most beautiful cathedral/basilica in the world. This structure is simply stunning. Your notes are excellent and your photograph is very sharp considering the fact that you didn't have a tripod with you. Excellent photo!

Hi Asa,
I relly like this internal shot of the cathedral, and the colours that you've captured are excellent. Nice nclusion of the arched ceiling with great amount of detail shown. I alos like the fact that you've included some people in the image, giving a more natural look to the shot. Well captured.

A surprisingly good result from holding a little Cybershot on the end of a pew for one second, Asa. The only problem with that POV is that you couldn't quite get it symmetrical - these types of photographs always look best if they are exactly symmetrical or taken from a more pronounced angle - 'almost symmetrical' doesn't seem to work. The exposure is good to capture the subtle clours around the altar, but the image does lack some sharpness, perhaps due to a slight camera movement. Cheers . . . David
