As I tried in last photo to show the intensity of believe in the Meenakshi Temple, I hope that you see here these two deep values of Idian social culture, The Family and The Religion, a hope and an example to the world, today on Ascension Day.

Beautiful.
The smoke from the insnece give this shot a true sense of ceremony and grandeur. The rays of light are amazing too.
the colors so rich and powerful too.
I wish we could see more of the child andnot just a foot.

Nice light and colour and the slanting ray of sun light helps to highlight the smoke. Lovely peaceful scene.

A somewhat humourous touch from the smoke; it fades out while it curls past the hair of the woman in white, then "appears" out of the top of her head.

I'll be at this temple in August; can't wait1

Wonderful, Henk! There is something inspiring silence in this shot, and we can read the deep respect you mention in your note, in the image, itself. Truly a great pleasure to the eye to see such sharpness.

PS: so 1600 can be a cool ISO to use....With a great lens!

Henk, thats a lovely piece of work. Stunning. Like the way the light streaks across the picture. The smoke from the lamp also adding the mystic factor to the picture. The fading structure of the pillars on the extreme right are also very nice and clear. Its a real good picture to look at.. very peaceful and calming..

This snap, like most of your other snaps brings out the beliefs, traditions and customs from deep inside our country. I dont know which one i like more, your pictures or your notes...I am confused...:)
I like the way you have taken this shot where the husband stands behind looking over his family and the wife looks like a devout believer, praying for her family. Nice capture of the Indian sentiments

Hi Henk, I see this picture has some humor sense there. The guy was tightly watching the lady. He may be listening to the lady’s prey, trying to figure out what is the lady preying about. In comparing your yesterday’s photo, this photo provides an open view of the area. The smog is not as dramatic as the last one though.
Goof DOF and clarity. Again, a nice shot.

This is awesome, an incredible light here, the way the smoke is caught in the beams of light, in fact the whole composition is wonderful. Another very good one, Henk. This time it works very well with the inclusion of the lower part, and with the empty space on the right. The light beam is fantastic with the smoke that goes through. I like what the light does to the colors of the sculpture. VEry well done.

'ting ting ting' i can almost hear the bells ringing...intensive devotional spiritual and yet again i can smell the incense burning, the shaft of light on the idol almost seems magical.........but there is a feeling of slant in the image...its almost seems like pic shot in the past where people lived in temples and caves...thanks so much for sharing...keep it up and looking fwd for more...rgds baptist

Light is alive, light is really special in these shots! I love every pic of yours, Henk, but now you discovered something new in the use of the light, I can't understand what is it, but it is wonderful. This is just amazing, Henk. The way the light illuminates the temple is just amazing and the light on the woman's face makes the shot for me. The smoke itself is also a great addition. This is quite a breathtaking shot...I would venture to say that is just might be one of your best. You should print it large and post it on your wall. Great work!

i dont know how did i miss it.. i was looking again in ur gallery.. most of the photos i have seen already but this one.. i dont know why ?? A nice moment indeed. Much of the photos i have seen from here like Claude's one and Maciek's one.. The atmosphere is so spiritual that i could understand u can deeply go inside the subject.. the people the light the smoke .. everything is so perfect henk.. I do not know where to begin,everything is perfect.
The limited light with the shaded area are very difficult to deal with and well dealt you did.
The composition is very good.I like to see the red statue so well lighted as is the couple.
The smoke adds another dimension and helps to keep our sight in the center.

I have managed to miss this one before , Henk, It is stunningly full of atmosphers and feeling. The composition is very powerful and the incense adds atmosphere. I was not quite sure about having the area to the right, behind the pilar, empty, but -then again- any activity there would have distracted from the centeral action. I might have been tempted to crop a little for the right, to see if it made the composition stronger. It's a wonderful picture, anyway, thanks for sharing it. Kevin

it was nice to read your msg tht image was taken through cyber shoot and the thing is i like to capture her as it is when i told her tht i am taking her pic she already was shy for shoot and u can see tht expression on her face and after tht pic i showed it to her she was amazed tht how can u see the pic which was clicked now. thts wht india was for me when i was in small village of allilbaugh

and lastly about this image it reminded about the prayers which happen in temples in kerela which i feel they pray from there heart and thts wht it shows from this image

Beste Henk,

nu ik uw bibliotheek doorblader valt deze foto me op. Prachtig licht en scherpte. De rook die langzaam opstijgt... Niets aan te verbeteren. Het origineel is m.i. beter dan de workshop, omdat je daar de "ruimte" waarin dit zich afspeelt mist. Ik reis virtueel verder in deze mij onbekende maar in elk geval prachtig in beeld gebrachte streek.

While looking at your gallery I got this one which is gorgeous. The way you've capted this light and your framing is absolutly perfect!. Sharpness and colours are trumendous.
Really a perfect picture one of the very best I've seen up to now.

Great Photograph. I could the feel the place & surrounding of hanuman statue in Meenakshi amman temple. Wonderful photograph. you have captured the emotions of people over there. The bakthi over the girls face and as her husband waits for her, some thought process running back in the mind....really good. The smoke and light coincides where the dominance of third object deepan/vilakku adds beauty to it.

Voilà le genre de photo que j'aurais voulu ramener de mon voyage (qui vient à peine de se terminer, pfff !). Mais je n'ai pas ton talent. J'ai visité ta galerie, dur de choisir. Elles sont superbes tes photos. Mais celle-ci me touche particulièrement. Quand je la regarde, j'entends les bruits, je sens les odeurs, tout y est, la fumée de l'encens, le rayon de soleil dans la poussière et la fumée, la femme en sari coloré en prière, ça c'est l'INDE.
