Photographer's Note

this building is part of the so called "Communs", belonging to the castle "Neues Palais" (completed in 1769) that Friedrich II (Frederick the Great, king of Prussia) built after the seven years war; today it houses parts of the university of Potsdam. Though it looks like a castle itself, it was a building for the royal kitchen, gardeners’ shops, palace guards and servants etc. I wonder how they managed to serve the king`s tea still beeing hot, considering the distance from kitchen to palace.

in the WS a more general view of the "Communs" and the castle "Neues Palais" itself
