Photographer's Note

The Peribleptos Monastery (Monastery of the Blessed Mother of God) is one of the most valuable buildings preserved in Mystras. This monastery was founded in 14th century. It is situated at the southern end of the city wall and has a very complex plan, it was constructed on a steep slope and buit into the side of a cliff with a cave supporting the structure.
In the centre of the complex is the main church building with the dome. It is surrounded by many chapels: a chapel of St. Pandeleimonas, the one next to it is the chapel of St. Paraskevi and the chapel of St. Catherine. The church is unique in Mystras with rich preserved frescoes from the 14th century.

In WS you can see frescoes preserved on the ceiling of one of the domes in the church.
