Photographer’s Note
This is a picture of the gate of Berati Castle taken from the inside of the enclosed courtyard.Dated at about 400 BC the castle has seen many battles and various conquerors. The Romans burned it down about 300 BC but I am sure more local fights would have been going on on a regular basis before it. And of course more battles to follow. The Byzantins, Goths,Serbs, Bulgars, Goths, Turks you name it they all have fought in and out of this gate. Architecturaly the castle walls are not in a bad condition and just looking at the walls you can identify the times it has been rebuild and various stone building techniques.

Hello Aleks,
This brings back memories of my latest vacations. I think this point was one of the best places to see the massiveness of the really impressive castle walls. I like the view through the gate towards the trees. The colours are very delicate and natural, light-management and sharpness excellent.
Regards,
Gert
