Photographer’s Note
The Church of Saint Giovanni Battista in Riomaggiore Italy.
In the upper part of the village, the church of Saint Giovanni Battista was built in 1340 by Antonio Fieschi, bishop of Luni. A headstone in the façade remembers the construction of the Maestri Antelami. The lancet windows and the two Gothic doors adorned with anthropomorphous and zoomorphic elements and on the right side are the only elements of the original structure. In 1870 the church was widened and the façade rebuilt in neogothic style, then replacing the original rose window.
The inside has three aisles, separated by ogival archs. It conservs valuable works of art as a wooden crucifix of the Maragliano, a triptych in the right aisle attributed to the Antelami and the "Baptist's Preaching" attributed to Domenico Fiasella. See WS for interior view.

Hello Asa,
You have captured a very interesting church to celebrate your 300th posting. I like the two fronted perspective and the presence of the flowering tree and benches, which contribute much to the mood and help balance the composition. Very good colours and sharpness.

Bonsoir Asa,

Ah! I remember this church! But when we arrived there in the morning it was contralight and I couldn't take it. I can see now that in the afternoon the light was much better!
I must say that - knowing the place - you managed to create a very good composition, you choose a good pov, including the oleandro flower at the right, which gave you a fine sense of perspective. The photo is very clear and the sparkling colours of the bell tower contrast with the dark mountain behind.
A good work!
Congratulations for your 300th milestone.

Hello Asa.
Congrats for your 300th pictures on TE. You have chosen a nice church with an interesting front and that with a great luminosity contrasts with the bottom of these green mounts. I like the note of color that the azalea contributes.

Hi Asa.
I missed this when you uploaded it, so congratulations now for reaching the milestone! This is a very well exposed shot of an unusual looking church, against a very appealing background of hills and a good sky. I like the fact you preserved those two red seats on the bottom right corner, adding colour and leading the eye down the lane beside the church. The diagonal of the nearer hill's slope across the further one adds a sense of depth too. Nice work.

Hi Asa!
Congratulations! I see you have chosen a church to celebrate:)! This one has an original architecture and some details that make it different from all the others - particularly those sculptures on the facade, the blue door and the tower, in a different colour.Good to see it surrounded by the flowers of the trees and the mountains in background.I like the pov and the sunlight reflecting in foreground.
