Photographers Note
THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
The world has shrunk. We dont have to take a voyage to Africa to explore the forests of Gabon, or the streets of Johannesburg. Weve got Google Earth! I get calls from my friend hitchhiking through Ireland, and emails from another doing conservation work in Congo. My shirt was made in Vietnam; my pants in Russia. For my morning smoothie, I owe thanks to the people of Ecuador, South Africa, and Mexico.
Ironic, though, isnt it? For while the distance between us all has narrowed, its also grown so large, it seems at times that weve lost touch all together. Who actually stitched together my hoodie? Is she working 15-hour days in a country where her hopes for the future mean nothing? That chai latte did it come at the expense of pristine rainforest acreage? Were families kicked off their native land to create that soy farm? Somebody, somewhere, sprayed something on my tomatoes, the mattress you just bought, the blanket you wrap your child in. What, I have no idea. How will all those chemicals were exposed to affect our bodies after 30 years of constant, unavoidable exposure?...

(Merhaba) Korkut,,,Geia soy.. a title and a note that gives the stain of modern globalization . They is a future that we hope him better but also that him we fear for ! Picture with dynamics white and colours presence life and a powerful black background that is powerful but also unknown. I speak symbolically always. I praise and thanks your that with this title "the world at your fingertips" I saw many in google

how nice to meet your wife, krkt. You look pretty sportif behind the beautiful ladies. It seems that the first ideas about the shape of the world were right after all: it's completely flat. A white screen floating in the infinite outter space like a flying saucer. Suddenly it reminds me of the crazy and funny book "hitchiker's guide to the galaxy". Great capture of her hand - it holds everything.

this is a good and true analysis of our modern world, where the important values seems to disappear! You have superbly realised this picture, with the incrediblly strong contrast between black and white, and the boy in the darkness with a slight light on his face!Superb!

Excellent production.
Your management of light is incredible : the white parts are not overexposed, and the details in the darkness are perfect.

Hi Korkut
Great shot and great note.
Your photo illustrates very well this questioning which we have in front of this new world which builds itself and which frightens us.
I like this enlightened face in front of some sights of our planet. We wonder if she does not have an idea, to blow up everything or if she discovers only some miracles of our planet.
Beautiful, bravo!

Hi Korkut,
how did you manage to have such a clear result ???
I´m asking seriously, because I also had a 400D and I failed in a similar situation...it was the "Camera Obscura" on Plaza vieja in La Habana, Cuba, a room, completely dark, with a round and concave screen where the cityscape was projected on it.
There where children all around it, looking in this source of light, with wonderful faces. I screwed up the ISO to 1600, the pic was underexposed and grainy...no chance also for NeatImage. I´m so sorry I missed this job, and I congratulate you to have it done.
Compliments, Chris

Hi Korkut,
Fantastic photo and perfect note added!
The most of the photo is dark black, but the first thing that came to my mind was "how colourful it is!", and then "how incredible the lights are!". And yes, these are the two main goals of this photo!
Congratulations, it's a really good work!
By the way, how often do you visit SantralIstanbul? :)

Hi Korkut,
My thoughts......The history of man, touching each episode, finding out about the past. That hand on the shield, perfect timing, but even more excellent light control.
Another very creative shot. If you only show them here on TE than it's a waste of time, you should do more with them than only showing here...think in a commercial way when making these kind of images..!!!
Take care,
Henk

Yup, it could be just like you said. A Hi-Fi photo of the future, lots of information pieced together under a single surface. I like it, except of the very dark figure (boosting just this a little would be effective I believe).

Hello Korkut! My working colleague is preparing her honeymoon to Canada and she has put together her whole trip with google earth, her new GPS system and different tourist websites. She has meanwhile several pages of excel sheets and every single minute is planned, even the shops she wants to stop and restaurants she MUST eat in. I am afraid she will not meet a single Canadian during her three weeks in this country (what a shame, great people), busy not missing a page on her excel sheet. So I guess all these tools do not really connect, they could but they actually don't. People are not more open, but overloaded with all the information. You made a great balance with this special picture to something that crosses my mind sometimes, also the "made in ..." part. Oh well, some thoughts, have a good night ... Barbara.
