Photographer’s Note

This is a view of Capo Testa, the most northern cape of Sardinia, just in front of the town of Bonifacio in Corsica. (See map) It’s constituted of big granite boulders which often have curious shapes. The weather was awful when I shot this picture, a real tempest was storming the channel between Sardinia and Corsica. But for a short while the sunshine forced a passage through the clouds and illuminated the cliff.

Questo è uno scorcio di Capo Testa, la punta più settentrionale della Sardegna, proprio di fronte a Bonifacio in Corsica. E’ formato da grossi massi di granito che spesso hanno forme curiose. Il tempo era pessimo quando ho scattato questa foto, una vera tempesta di Maestrale stava infuriando nelle Bocche di Bonifacio. Ma per un poco il sole ha trapassato la cortina di nubi e ha illuminato la scogliera.

Hello Donato ,
Wonderful rocks , with a beautiful light , and a great contrast with the dark sky . We can see such rocky formations in Corsica , even in Northern Brtittany (but smaller) .

Uno dei posti più belli che io abbia mai visto, difficile da fotografare per la difficoltà di rendere la dimensione della penisola di granito

una foto baciata da una luce incantevole che mette in risalto sia l'interessante formazione di scogli, che il colore del mare prima della tempesta. Sei stato molto abile a cogliere l'attimo di questo raggio di sole, regalandoci una grandiosa visione della natura.

Hello Donato,

Nice blue ocean, gives a warm feeling in these colder days. Light on the rocks is great, but also how you included the foreground inside the composition works pretty good. Weather was awful you say, for me it gives a warm summer feeling....very nice work.

Wonderful capture of the moment of the gathering storm.
The silver blue sky looks very threatening and the boiling turquoise sea and white surf promising the worst of the storm is still to come.

I like the fantastic mood in this seascape! You have indeed caught the right moment, when the sun lit the rocks. The cliff is beautiful in all its forms and textures. The sea and sky are as gorgeous, showing well the stormy weather. The impression of water rising and escaping from the foreground cove with the surf is very strong. I like this a lot. Complimenti!

magico momento, stupendamente catturato. La luce del sole che illumina lo scoglio contrasta in modo sensazionale con il cielo plumbeo e dà trasparenza all'acqua. Queste immagini, rubate alle forze della natura, sono quelle che danno più soddisfazione, specialmente quando son fatte con questo bel risultato. Doppiamente bravo, per l'eccellente qualità tecnica e per aver avuto il coraggio di sfidare il Maestrale.

Ciao Donato, In the BG it looks a little overcast but the rocks have a very warm glow with excellent light, the ocean in FG also has a vivid warm look. I like the warm colours here even if there was a storm approaching, & the good detail, especially on the rocks.

Delle due l'una. O sei stato lì ore ad aspettare questo raggio o hai avuito fortuna a passare prioprio in quel momento. In ogni caso il risultato è ottimo. This is it! The sea we have been used in the summer and winter always there blue and threatening when rough but pleasing and warm when calm. Excellent view at its most turbulent

Ciao Donato.
Questo sprazzo di sole nel maltempo ha dato un'impronta di originalità allo scenario che hai ben colto. Efficace il primo piano, fra l'altro molto scuro e non invasivo, quasi un rafforzamento della cornice.
Le nuvole fanno una bellissima figura. Ricordandomi del rumore che si era presentato in alcuni tuoi cieli rannuvolati, ho aguzzato la vista, ma c'è una quantità di rumore appena percettibile, irrilevante.

Ciao Donato. Mi piace molto la gestione degli spazi su varie zone a partire dalla linea d'ombra in primo piano. Nitidezza particolare sulle rocce ove la luce fugura alal grande. Molto realistico il movimento del mare. ottimo lavoro.

Wow! Fantastic light on the rocks! The texture and color tone of the rocks shine so strongly under the light to contrast well with the sea. In fact, I see the white splashing waves to add a good color tone too.

You included the shadow in the FG and I find that is a good POV. The stormy weather and title is really very good timed moment to capture this superb scenery. Well done.

Ahhh ecco i tuoi scatti più consueti...
Ciao Donato, che bella questa vista di marzo di Capo Testa, nitidezza e contrasto sono regolati alla perfezione, quel tocco di giallo e di verde rendono belle emozioni mentre la vegetazione in ombra in primo piano e la spuma delle onde sugli scogli forniscono una buona composizione all'immagine.Anch'io come Livia pensavo a come doveva essere la tempesta di maestrale che stava infuriando!
PS: una domanda che nn ti ho mai posto ... ma che significa Longroute (temine sardo?)

bella foto, perchè rende molto bene l'idea del mare in tempesta e perchè il sole che illumina la scogliera regala un'atmosfera particolare.
Mi ricordo delle mareggiate spettacolari a Capo Testa, con onde alte diversi metri che si infrangevano sulle rocce... e tramonti meravigliosi.

beautiful light that enhances these orange/yellow/brown rocks against the dark sea. The dark vegetation in the lower portion of the image gives an even better contrast. Lovely detail in this seascape.

Hi, Donato,

This photo really "pops"!

The lighting conditions are unreal (in a wonderful way), with a strongly illuminated foreground against the dark background.

I like how you have used the dark foreground to (partially) frame the image.

I also like the lovely blue of the water in the foreground, especially how we can see down into the water.

I won't mention the usual: almost uniform distribution between land, sea and sky.
