CAN YOU HEARD IT ?, a photo from Rio Negro, South

Photographer's Note

Here we can see the white glacier in the top of Cerro Tronador volcano. Time to time (few minutes) the ice falls in a deep abyss creating a terrible sound like a thunder. I hope this humble image can show you a little bit of this amazing show of nature. Tomorrow I will post a whole image of this area and you will see the white and black ice together and you will understand how it is created. The name of this huge mountain is cause the sound it produces.--- The most important mountain around Bariloche is Cerro Tronador, an ancient volcano with 3460 meters altitude. Its summit is the borderline between Chile and Argentina. Its higher peaks are covered with a huge white glacier and time to time we can see and heard when part of this ice fall down many meters to the abyss bellow it. When the ice is falling down it is transformed in dust and mixed with the dark rocks and soil, creating a strange especie of ice (the black ice). See my last post..

Aqui podemos apreciar a parte superior do Cerro Tronador, coberto com um glaciar branco, de tempos em tempos (minutos) o gelo despenca no abismo, criando o terrível som de um trovão. Espero que vocês consigam apreciar este espetáculo natural nesta pobre imagem que não faz justiça ao que ele é visto ao vivo. Amanhã vou postar uma foto mostrando o conjunto da paisagem local, com o gelo negro e o branco e vocês poderão entender como ele se forma. O nome da montanha se deve ao som que ela produz.--- O Cerro Tronador com 3.460 metros de altitude, é a montanha mais importante da região de Bariloche. Os cumes deste velho vulcão marcam a fronteira entre Chile e Argentina. Seus picos estão cobertos com um enorme glaciar branquinho, erguido à beira de um grande abismo, vez em sempre este gelo cai lá de cima e vira pó, fazendo um ruído terrível e mesclando-se com o pó e a terra negra, criando uma estranha espécie de gelo (o gelo negro). Quase que podemos, é verdade. Aqui o glaciar move-se em direção à falésia, não é? No Glaciar SAn Rafael, no Chile, o movimento é em diração ao mar, mas o barulho do gelo a partir-se é sensacional.
Gosto muito da tua foto, que captou o momento preciso da queda do gelo.
