Photographer's Note

This train is also called "End of the world" train, it travels along the same rails as in times of a prison when it transported the prisoners to their tasks in the cold forest, mainly to cut logs to guarantee the necessary firewood used for cooking and heating at the prison.

In 1994 after 42 years of silent retirement (the prison was closed) the train resumed its old circuit
The railway station is located 8 km from Ushuaia city, inside Tierra del Fuego National Park

"The steam locomotive consume 500 liters of water and the most important thing is to keep an eye on the boiler, so it does not run out of water", said one of the drivers

The whole trip last 50 minutes to cover 25 km with an stop at La Macarena, to load water for the locomotive while the passengers have time to admire the autumn landscape till the whistle was heard and the train resumes the journey

It was at this place where I took the photo of the woman-guide, talking and joking with the driver
She is the person that made sure the wagons were well closed before starting the journey as well as telling the passengers histories about the prisoners and the way they lived there
