Photographer's Note

I don't know how many places in the world have had ambulances running on railways. Queensland may be unique. During rainy seasons and the consequent floods the dirt roads if the very flat inland Queensland would be impassable.
As a solution they came up with a system of railway ambulances so that patients could be got to the nearest railway and transferred onto the rail ambulance to get them to hospital. I don't think that it would have been a comfortable ride as they are very basic inside.
