Photographer's Note

Milsons Point is a suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located 3 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of North Sydney Council.

Milsons Point is also the name of the geographical feature that juts into Sydney Harbour from the northern side, directly opposite Sydney Cove, the spot where the first European settlement was established in 1788.

It is named after James Milson (1783–1872), one of the earliest free settlers, originally from Lincolnshire. Milson settled in the area near the area now known as Milsons Point and established a profitable business supplying ships with stone ballast, fresh water, and the produce of his dairy, orchard, and vegetable gardens.

Hi Stephen
Many of my family live in Sydney so it's always nice to see the city, and especially in your gallery as you post places most other would not, real places, real homes and suburbs that we won't find on guide books and galleries and that is really cool, add is always nice to see the real face of a city. The light was very kind on this photo, lighting up the various buildings perfectly to make such a sharp clear photo

The distance between the sailboats and the buildings is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Stephen,

Sydney looks nice from the Harbour and the beachside suburbs are also nice and pricey, but I hear that the western suburbs out on the plain near Parramatta are not so great. Good sharpness and a well maintained foreshore with well tended gardens and an affluent air. Tfs!
