Photographer's Note
The El Alamein Memorial Fountain is a fountain and war memorial in the city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the Kings Cross area, at the entrance to the Fitzroy Gardens on the corner of Darlingurst Road and Macleay Street.
The El Alamein Fountain was commissioned as a memorial to soldiers who died in 1942 during the Second World War in two battles at El Alamein, Egypt, and was designed by the Australian architect Phill Taranto as employed by architectural firm Woodward and Woodward.
The Australian 9th Division fought in both battles of El Alamein during the Second World War. Both were important for the course of the war; the first battle, fought in July 1942, halted the advance of Axis forces into Egypt and the second, fought in October and November 1942, routed them, and is considered a turning point in the Western Desert Campaign. The El Alamein fountain commemorates the Australian army's roles in the North Africa campaign in general, and the two El Alamein battles in particular.

Bonjour, cher Stephen,
Voilà une fontaine qui s'apparente à une plante qui sème à tous vents.
La joliesse de l'ensemble est remarquable.
Amitiés.

Hi Stephen,
I took a picture of that fountain in May 1981 during my first trop to Australia. The point of view is showing the details of the El Alamein Memorial Fountain. The loght has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Stephen
Toujours commode par temps chaud de pouvoir profiter de la fraîcheur d'une belle fontaine. Celle-ci est spectaculaire mais pas tellement accommodante pour les enfants.
Amicalement

Hello Stephen,
I never can pass a fountain without taken a series of photos of it. It is always a beautiful study of different POV and DOF. And of course the right setting for the shutter speed. I prefer a very short you like you used here. I like to see the water drops hanging in the air.

Hi Stephen,
I remember this fountain well, as it is near hotels I've stayed in. Backlight looks particularly good on the water sprays. I also like the tropical green background.

Ciao Stephen
la fontana è molto bella, purtroppo, come nella maggior parte dei casi, ricorda brutti eventi. La guerra è sempre guerra a prescindere da chi vince e da chi perde.
Saluti

Hello Stephen,a beautiful fountain serving as a memorial.
Fountains are not the easiest of subjects to take a shot of, I have found; here you have managed the light really well, and the pattern of the fountain is very clear.
I can almost hear the sound of the falling water!
Regards Jean.

Hello Stephen,
Great photo of this memorial fountain. The light is really gorgeous and illuminates all the tiny droplets so wonderfully. It creates a beautiful effect.

Hello Stephen,
I hadn't seen that Memorial Fountain or anything that looked like it before, it's very interesting for both the effect it creates and its structure. I like how the light is filtred through the water, giving a fresh and enjoyable look to the scene. I appreciate this presentation that is well lit and precise, accompanied by a thorough note too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania

Hi Steven
El Alamein Fountain often appears on postcards of Sydney. Good sharpness and excellent choice of shutter speed to freeze each water drplet. The corn fritters sign looks American. Tfs!

Hello Stephen,
This is a spectacular fountain, like a huge dandelion. I also like the POV that causes it to be enveloped by the trees.
Regards,
MT
