Photographer's Note

Mungo National Park is the focal point of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area. The lunette known as the 'Walls of China' is one of the main highlights of Mungo National Park. It is a 30 kilometre long dune formation which protects some human history of well over 40,000 years. Rain and wind has uncovered ancient fireplaces and hearths, as well as calcified plant matter, artefacts, stone tools and animal bones, including skeletal remains of the famous Mungo man and woman, erosion has sculpted the sand and clay into dramatic formations.
