Photographer's Note
When I saw the three ships on the water and the one in the air, I knew I had to try to capture them all together despite the heavy haze of off-shore pollution.
"Wooden ships on the water very free and easy
"Easy you know the way it's supposed to be
"Silver people on the shoreline leave us be

What a scene! All those different types of vessels in one photo. Very well captured Silke, I think it is quite amazing really. I can't suggest anything, it is a scene that you see and just have to shoot. The haze in the air you can't change, so I say "BRAVO!"

Hi Silke,
A good POV of this sail boat surrounded by big ships, a lot of details can be seen. The photo has a good DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Silke,
I like very much this photo, contrasting the sailboat with the big freighters on the background. The long focal distance and FOV help a lot with the perspective.
And being almost part of the Woodstock generation, I also liked the reference to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young! (I even have this song in my notebbok!).
Kind regards and have a great weekend,
Carlos

Hi Silke. An interesting array of different vessels in this photo. The foreground boat with its tall sail works well as a device to structure the frame, and the zeppelin in mid-air is certainly a good and slightly surprising add to the overall scene. Good result despite the haze; I think you could slightly bump up contrast and might be surprised at the additional definition of detail that will result from it.

Hi Silke,
You got this one right slaloming between the cargos... ooops slaloming must be rather related to ski... never mind you see what I'm thinking about ;-)
Good result despite the haze from the pollution, and I like the detail of the background zeppelin !
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

I like the contrast between the sailing boat and the big cargo ships in the background, and the airship is a real bonus.
Good composition too, although the strange colour caste in the sky is a little unfortunate. Must be down to the hazy conditions.
Good work.

Hello there, Silke! I'm really impressed with this one! I just love the definition of the yacht under sail, contrasting with the hazy ships and dockside cranes in the background. I don't mind the haze on the mountain at all (you can't do much about urban pollution), and the dirigible adds interest in the upper part of the photo. A teriffic capture, well done.

Andrew

Bonjour Silke,
Le fond brumeux ne gêne pas du tout, au contraire, il atténue la laideur du complexe industriel et met en évidence les activités de loisirs, ce qui en fait une photo des plus réussies.

Hi Silke,
You sure did a great job of capturing the three distinct kinds of ships. The haze is not a problem, infact it adds to the beauty. Well Done!

Hi Silke
A great long shot and wonderfully framed. I like the contrast between this sail boat and the ships in the distance. Nice atmosphere from the haze and good sharpness. Very nice capture.

Hi Silke,
I really like the way you've framed the sailboat between the two freighters. Having sailed in this harbor, the picture brings back strong memories of being under sail among the behemoths. As many others have commented, your excellent framing carries the day. in spite of the haze, detail is excellent as well.

Hi Silke. Very good composition. The juxstaposition of the big bulk carriers and the recreational yacht works well. Good clarity and colours. Murray.

Hi Silke,
Great vertical shot of all these ships passing in the foggy afternoon. The nautical rush hour image has great colors and details but your keen eye caught the amazement in all this clutter. The David Crosby tune is most apt.
Regards, Tom
