Portraits of New York II
Breakdance-training in Central Park
I’m continuing my new series with PORTRAITS of NEW YORK with a portrait of some Hip-hop youngsters exercising in Central Park.
I took this picture on the first day of my first visit to New York in 2013.
Not only museums are rich places to take pictures of New Yorkers in their daily neighbourhood, but also the Central Park is an enhanced source. And you can imagine that there are a lot more as I will show you in this series, if you like it.
In the workshop you can see two more impressions of this group of break-dancers.

We are almost neighbors on the site today, with photos that are slightly related, as kinds of public art. Your photos all show expressive people somewhere along the border between art and entertainment. Their performances obviously offered plenty of photo opportunities, and I assume that nobody was disturbed by the camera. It's clear that you had a great time taking these pictures.

I am not a fan of tattoos but I do like this double portrait. Great sense of dynamism. Perfectly captured with excellent colours and clarity.

Bonjour, cher Rob,

Goed gedaan, bedankt.
Een prettige namiddag gewenst,

A superb duo of the tattooed man apparently doing some kind of yoga exercise or dance. Good sharpness, color & saturation. Nice use of a shallow dof in the image at left. Looking again, also the image at right has great differential focus. Tfs!

A cool guy who has had the courage to carry a good 'artwork' then it is just fine to share it this way!! I like your attitude! Apart from the fact that the colours are striking, I adore this for one main reason, and that's observation. As we go through life it's important to take the time to observe things and this is one of the essential ingredients to photography. And as a photographer, we can then record the moment as what has happened here. A true photographer!
My congrats and tfs.

You found an interesting subject. He's certainly in good shape, and his tattoos are fascinating. I spent a bit of time looking at them. I also recognize the performers in the WS photos. I've seen them on previous visits to Central Park. I hope all is well with you and Lars. :-)

Hello Rob, Now we have kind of body art instead of street art. In fact, I do not like tattoo, even if is is made nicely, but it looks impressive. There is something written in Russian. Excellent composition, you were very close to the guy.
Kind regrad s Malgo

You have capture well the action of the man doing exsrcise. The point of view is showing the details of the tatoos. The light has a good effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Well taken and presented this dancer with two photos perfect sharpness, impressive flexibility !
CLODO (35938) 2017-04-20 0:43
So you have opted for dyptichs. This guy is absolutly flexible, I can hardly put my nails on the ground when I perform this! I don't understand why so many persons like to have those horrible tatoos for ever on their skin!
Nevertheless, a good representation of the Big Apple people
My best regards

Hier hoeft ook geen museum bij, de plaatjes heeft de beste man zelf al meegenomen. Mooie foto's van de ochtendgymnastiek van deze New Yorker.
